Help & Documentation
Nightjar Browser runs an offline AI assistant directly on your machine. Everything read from pages, chat messages, and attached files stays local.
Zero Cloud AI Telemetry: The AI assistant runs as a local llama-server process on 127.0.0.1. There are no API keys, no accounts, and no background requests transmitting page content or queries.
1. The AI Assistant
🌐 Ask About the Page
The sidebar reads the active tab — articles, documentation, or PDFs — and grounds its answers using local text extraction. Click the Page Context Chip above the chat box to toggle page reading on or off.
📎 Attach Your Files
Drag and drop PDFs, Excel workbooks, CSVs, or source code files into the chat dock. 49 file types are indexed locally for Q&A alongside the page. Totals, averages and counts over a spreadsheet are calculated by Nightjar, not guessed by the model.
🧠 Reasoning Models
When using reasoning-capable models (e.g. Gemma 4 or Qwen), toggle 🧠 Reasoning to view step-by-step thinking traces before the answer.
2. Commands & Automation
/crawl — Extract Lists to CSV
Extracts repeated items on a listing page (products, articles, search results) into a structured table for CSV download.
Note: This is a beta feature. Enable it in Settings → Beta features.
/quiz — Test Comprehension
Generates a multi-question interactive comprehension quiz based directly on the contents of the currently open article or document.
